ENHANCING STUDENTS’ ATTITUDES TOWARD BIOLOGY USING CONSENSUS AND COOPERATIVE REFLECTIVE JOURNAL WRITING EDUCATIONAL STRATEGIES

Biology is a core and required science subject offered at the upper secondary school level in Nigerian educational system. However, students’ attitude towards poor, trend probably due to use of teacher-centred strategies. Scholars have thus advocated for need adopt innovative strategies enhance biology. This study investigated consensus cooperative reflective journal writing enhancing attitudes biology two Local Government Areas (LGAs) within Ibadan Metropolis Oyo State, Nigeria. The adopted quantitative pre-test-post-test, control group quasi-experimental design involving 3x2 factorial matrix, with positivist paradigm. Purposive sampling was used select six schools across LGAs while an intact class II students selected from each total 305 participants. Two instruments, Attitude Questionnaire (BAQ) Students’ Verbal Ability Test (SVAT) were during study. data generated analysed using Analysis Covariance (ANCOVA). Results showed that, treatments toward also revealed that verbal ability has effect on interaction between treatment not significant strategies, therefore, enhanced metropolis should therefore be teaching Nigeria elsewhere.
